Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the Health Department to renew an agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Board of Regents of the Wisconsin University System relating to billing and collection services provided by the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to renew an agreement with the Board of Regents of the Wisconsin University System under which the State Laboratory of Hygiene, part of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, will provide billing and collection services to the Health Department from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005, or until this agreement is renegotiated or terminated by either party.

Whereas, The Milwaukee Health Department (MHD) maintains a chemical and bacteriological laboratory; and
Whereas, The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (SLH), which is part of the University of Wisconsin - Madison, provides specialized public health procedures, technical assistance and consultation for private and public health agencies; and
Whereas, The MHD and SLH are interested in renewing their intergovernmental cooperation agreement for the purpose of providing help to the MHD for its public health billing services; and
Whereas, The term of the agreement is from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005, or until this agreement is renegotiated or terminated by either party; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, a copy of which is attached to this file.
