Analysis
This ordinance makes adjustments to the language relating to the duties of the arts board. The ordinance eliminates unnecessary language regarding organizations operated by the city as possible recipients of project or program funding from the arts board. In addition, currently, there are no provisions for sustaining grants given to organizations by the arts board. This ordinance allows for sustaining grants given to specific organizations on an indefinite basis.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 320-12-3-a of the code is amended to read.
320-12. Arts Board.
3. GUIDELINES.
a. Projects or programs funded from the Milwaukee arts fund shall be organized and operated by [[the city,]] a nonprofit organization [[,]] or an individual artist, and shall be accessible to the public.
Part 2. Section 320-12-3-c and d of the code is renumbered to d and e.
Part 3. Section 320-12-3-c of the code is created to read.
c. Sustaining grants funded from the Milwaukee arts fund shall be made to specific organizations and may be granted on an indefinite basis at the discretion of the board.
