...Title
Substitute resolution relating to cooperative staffing and vehicle agreements between the Milwaukee Fire Department and private ambulance service providers.

...Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Fire Department, though its Chief, to enter into a cooperative staffing agreement with private ambulance service providers to provide ambulance service to the former “Paratech” ambulance service area.

...Body
Whereas, the Milwaukee Fire Department (“MFD”) entered into private ambulance service provider agreements for emergency medical services with Bell Ambulance, Inc. and Curtis-Universal, Inc. on December 19, 2017, as amended from time to time (“2017 Provider Agreements”); and

Whereas, the 2017 Provider Agreements included a “Bell” service area, a “Curtis” service area, and a “Paratech” service area; and

Whereas, no private ambulance service provider is presently assigned to the former “Paratech” service area; and
Whereas, in order to provide ambulance service to the former “Paratech” service area, MFD, Bell and Curtis must work together to provide staffed ambulance units to that area until such time as the remaining ambulance service providers can recruit sufficient numbers of EMT staff to cover broader service areas independently; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Fire Department may enter into cooperative staffing agreements with Bell Ambulance, Inc. and Curtis-Universal, Inc. to supplement Bell and Curtis EMT staff with MFD EMT staff on Bell and Curtis ambulances for a six-month period, with a six-month renewal available; and be it

Further Resolved, that the agreements shall be in a form substantially similar to those included within this file; and, be it

Further Resolved, that the Fire Chief is authorized to sign such agreements.
