This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuit brought by Wayne Soward. _______________________________________________________
BODY:
Whereas, The plaintiff Wayne Soward, has commenced a lawsuit against the City of Milwaukee Police Department and other officials of the City of Milwaukee, seeking reinstatement to employment in the Fire Department and back pay since his December 2, 1988 termination date; and
Whereas, The plaintiff has offered to settle this action with the payment of $30,000.00 in satisfaction of any and all claims of all of the plaintiff against the City of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this claim, now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $30,000.00, payable to Wayne Soward, in full and final settlement of this lawsuit, upon receipt of a release of claims, approved as to form and execution by the City Attorney, said amount to be charged to the Fire Department Salaries and Wages Account, Account No. 01-328-06000.
