Analysis
This resolution authorizes the release of borrowing authority and the expenditure of funds for the Trunked Radio Communications - Citywide capital improvement project. The Common Council appropriated $2,000,000 for the project in the 2005 Adopted City Budget. A footnote in the Adopted Budget requires Common Council approval for expenditures to be made.

Body
Whereas, The Common Council approved the City of Milwaukee 2005 Budget as Common Council Resolution 040795 adopted November 12, 2004 including a Capital Improvement New Borrowing appropriation in the amount of $2,000,000 for the Police Department's Trunked Radio Communications - Citywide capital project (0318-9990-R999-PL120030100) and included a budget footnote reading, "Funds allocated for the Trunked Radio Communications Project may not be expended without Common Council approval;" and

Whereas, The new digital radio system is required to meet new Federal Communications Commission transmission standards. The digital system will utilize modern technology, known as radio trunking, to provide the most efficient use of available radio channels and frequencies. This new digital radio system will allow Police, Fire, and other city department personnel to effectively communicate with one another and with other agencies in emergency situations; and

Whereas, The Police Department and the Department of Administration Business Operations Division Procurement Services Section have entered into a contract with a vendor through the competitive Request for Proposal process; and
