Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Port of Milwaukee to apply for , accept, and fund a Wisconsin Department of Transportation Harbor Assistance Grant Project in connection with Dockwall Rehabilitation and related work in the Municipal Mooring Basin.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Railroad & Harbors; and

Whereas, It is the mission of the Port of Milwaukee to enhance the overall economic environment of the region by stimulating trade, business, and employment; and

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee owns and maintains 10 miles of dockwall to serve the Port area; and

Whereas, A dockwall rehabilitation project has been approved by the City of Milwaukee's Board of Harbor Commissioners as part of its Three-Year Harbor Development Statement of Intentions at its meeting of January 23, 2001; and

Whereas, A dockwall rehabilitation project has been approved by the City of Milwaukee's Common Council as part of the Port of Milwaukee's Three-Year Harbor Development Statement of Intentions at its meeting of March 20, 2001; and

Whereas, The above named Three-Year Harbor Development Statement of Intentions has been submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Railroad & Harbors, Harbor Assistance Program as required by their Grant Requirements; and

Whereas, Approximately 1800 lineal feet of dockwall in the mooring basin portion of the Port of Milwaukee is in need of rehabilitation; and

Whereas, Upgrade of the mooring basin dockwall is estimated to cost $1,250,000 of which $1,000,000 (80%) will be provided ...
