Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a permit allowing excavation in West Lakefield Drive north of West Morgan Avenue where the pavement is less than three years old. (Infrastructure Services Division)
ANLS:
- ANALYSIS - This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to issue an excavation permit allowing a cut in guaranteed street pavement that is less than three years old. The location is West Lakefield Drive north of West Morgan Avenue. Extension of a water lateral from the main in West Lakefield to the new Wal Mart store immediately east necessitates the pavement cut.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, A new Wal Mart store is being constructed on the site of the former Southgate Shopping Center; and
 
Whereas, Public utility service laterals, including water, must be extended to the new building; and
 
Whereas, The most efficient location for a water lateral is in West Lakefield Drive northerly of West Morgan Avenue; and
 
Whereas, This section of West Lakefield Drive has been recently paved and is under guarantee; and
 
Whereas, An exception to the street guarantee can only be granted by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue an excavation permit allowing installation of a water lateral connection from West Lakefield Drive northerly of West Morgan Avenue to the Wal Mart store under construction immediately to the east; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the pavement restoration of the affected street shall be accomplished in accordance with the specifications and restrictions established by the Department of Public Works of the City of Milwaukee.
