Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Common Council is authorized under state statute 118.4 to establish and monitor the operation of charter schools; and

Whereas, The Common Council has empowered the Charter School Review Committee to make recommendations to the Council regarding charter schools; and

Whereas, The Common Council has approved five charter schools under its auspices to date; and

Whereas, Three of the five charter schools are requesting renewal of their five-year charter term; and

Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee at its meeting of December 2, 2002 voted unanimously to recommend to the Milwaukee Common Council renewal - for another five-year term - the charter for Central City Cyberschool; and

Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee at its meeting of December 12, 2002 voted unanimously to recommend to the Milwaukee Common Council renewal – for another five-year term – the charter for Downtown Montessori School; and

Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee at its meeting of December 12, 2002 voted unanimously to recommend to the Milwaukee Common Council renewal – for another five-year term – the charter for Khamit Institute; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Milwaukee Common Council renews the charter - for another five year term - for the Central City Cyberschool beginning on the 2003-2004 school year and ending on the 2007-2008 school year; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Milwaukee Common Council renews the charter – for another five year term - for the Downtown Montessori, beginning on the 2003-2004 school year and ending on the 2007-2008 school year; and, be it
