Substitute resolution approving rates for 4 health maintenance organizations which will provide services to City employes and retirees in 2001.

- Analysis -

This resolution authorizes the Department of Employe Relations to prepare and execute new contracts or amendments to agreements between the City of Milwaukee and 4 health maintenance organizations to provide health insurance to City employes and retirees from January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001.

BODY:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee contracts with 4 health maintenance organizations (HMO) to provide health insurance to City employes and retirees; and

Whereas, Contracts with CompcareBlue, Family Health Plan, United Healthcare (PrimeCare) and Humana will not expire until December 31, 2001; and

Whereas, Each of these 4 HMOs has submitted not-to-exceed rate sheets for 2001 health insurance services; and

Whereas, Each of the 4 HMOs will submit a final 2001 rate by August 7, 2000 to the Department of Employe Relations; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Manager of Employe Benefits is authorized to prepare and complete new contracts or amendments to agreements for a one-year period with CompcareBlue, Family Health Plan, United Healthcare (PrimeCare) and Humana.
