Title:
Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2021-22 ShotSpotter Program grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a ShotSpotter Program grant from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice (DOJ), in the amount of $175,000 with a city share of $0, and a grantor share of $175,000. The purpose of this grant is to assist in the funding of the City’s ShotSpotter System.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Justice; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 9/01/2021 to 6/30/2022 would cost $175,000 of which $0 (0%) would be provided by the city and $175,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That, the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2021 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: 2021 ShotSpotter Program grant.

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant
