This resolution directs the Fire and Police Departments to submit to the City Clerk's Office all fire and police department policies and procedures which are available for inspection to the public pursuant to statutory public records provisions.
BODY:
Whereas, In the performance of its duties for the good order of the City of Milwaukee, including the benefit of trade and commerce, and the prevention of crime pursuant to s. 4-10 of the City Charter, the Common Council has determined that fire and police department policies and procedures which are available for inspection to the public pursuant to statutory public records provisions should be readily available to Council members; and
 
Whereas, Fire and Police Departments policies and procedures are deemed public records, and sub ch. 2, ch. 19, Wis. Stats., requires those records to be accessible; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that in light of the Council's duties and statutory provisions relating to public records, the Fire and Police Departments are directed to submit to the City Clerk's Office all department policies and procedures which are available for inspection to the public pursuant to sub ch. 2, ch. 19, Wis. Stats. and pursuant to the definition of records in s. 320-33-2-b, Milwaukee Code, when such policies and procedures are issued by the departments.
