Analysis
This resolution amends the number of Water Quality Task Force members needed for a quorum from five to three for the purpose of holding community meetings.
Body
Whereas, The Water Quality Task Force was created by Common Council File Number 160438 to address the problem of the presence of lead in the City’s drinking water; and
Whereas, The 9-member Task Force is comprised of representatives of the Common Council, Department of Public Works, Health Department, the community, and the medical profession; and
Whereas, The Task Force has determined that receiving public comment is essential to the success of its mission; and
Whereas, Many members of the public find it difficult to attend committee meetings scheduled during weekday business hours; and
Whereas, The Task Force has decided to provide weekend sessions in an effort to maximize availability to public for input; and
Whereas, Several members of the Task Force are not available for weekend community meetings; and
Whereas, Under Robert’s Rules of Order, the required quorum for the Water Quality Task Force to conduct business is a majority of members (5) unless a different quorum is be provided for by rule of the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, That the number of Water Quality Task Force members needed for a quorum for the purpose of holding community meetings is changed from five members to three members.
