Title
Resolution approving an exemption from transient merchant licensing requirements for vendors at the Cactus Club’s Milwaukee Psych Fest, May 14-17, 2015.
Analysis
This resolution provides that no transient merchant licenses shall be required for artists who offer for sale their creations of art or craft during Milwaukee Psych Fest, which will be held May 14-17, 2015, at the Cactus Club, 2496 S. Wentworth Avenue. This exemption shall apply only on those 4 days and only on the premises of the Cactus Club.

Whereas, On May 14-17, 2015, the Cactus Club, 2496 S. Wentworth Avenue, will be hosting Milwaukee Psych Fest, a music festival featuring psychedelic bands from the Milwaukee area, across the country and throughout the world; and
Whereas, The Cactus Club would like to allow local artisans to sell their artwork, jewelry and other products outside the club, but on the premises of the establishment (namely, the driveway), during Milwaukee Psych Fest; and
Whereas, Alcohol beverages will not be sold or allowed outside the Cactus Club establishment during Milwaukee Psych Fest; and
Whereas, Section 95-2-2-b of the Code of Ordinance exempts an artist who offers for sale creations of art or craft from the requirement to obtain a transient merchant license provided the art or craft creations are sold only by the creating artist and only in locations deemed appropriate by Common Council resolution; and
Whereas, The Common Council finds that the grounds of the Cactus Club, during the course of the Milwaukee Psych Fest music festival, are an appropriate location for artists to sell their art and craft creations without obtaining transient merchant licenses; now, therefore, be it
