Title:

Resolution authorizing acceptance and funding of a 2019-2020 WI Human Trafficking Task Force agreement.

Analysis:

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to continue its agreement for the funding of the WI Human Trafficking Task Force with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the amount of $55,947.00.  The purpose of this agreement is to fund overtime expenses for three officers whose purpose is to address cases involving sex trafficking and forced labor trafficking, as needed.

BODY:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible to enter into an agreement with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a WI Human Trafficking Task Force; and

Whereas, The Police Department may enter into agreements exceeding $50,000 that have been approved by the Chief of Police as indicated in Section 312-26, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and

Whereas, The period of this agreement from 10/1/19 to 9/30/20 would fund $55,947.00 towards the overtime costs police officers; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Milwaukee Police Department shall accept these funds without further approval.
