This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install the necessary traffic control facilities in conjunction with Federal/State Aid highway improvements funded through cost participating contracts with the State Department of Transportation.


BODY:
Whereas, The Surface Transportation Program includes appropriations for traffic control improvements along with the paving of highways located on the Federal/State Aid Highway System; and

Whereas, Common Council Resolutions File Number 951218, adopted December 19 1995, and File Number 930068, adopted June 15, 1993 authorized and directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement for programming and construction of the improvement of W. Lisbon Avenue from W. Center Street to N. Sherman Boulevard with Federal/State Aid under the Surface Transportation Program; and

Whereas, The total estimated cost of this project is $98,000 for the alteration of traffic control signals and relocation and upgrading of traffic control signs; and

Whereas, Seven percent of the participating costs or $7,120 is non-reimbursable and is included in the Division's 1999 Capital Purpose Account #ST32090000; and

Whereas, Ninety three percent of the participating project cost or $90,880 is reimbursable from the State Department of Transportation and this amount is not included in Division accounts, and should be earmarked for this project in the 1999 Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund #SP03290100; now, therefore, be it
