Analysis
This ordinance prohibits the renting of rooms on an hourly basis at hotels, motels or rooming houses and provides a forfeiture of $50 to $500 for violation.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 106-9 of the code is created to read:
106-9. Limitations on Hourly Renting of Rooms.
1. PROHIBITED.
a. No person owning, controlling, managing or having charge of any hotel, motel or rooming house shall allow or permit an hourly charge for any room within the establishment.
b. No person owning, controlling, managing or having charge of any hotel, motel or rooming house shall allow or permit any room or rooms within said establishment to be rented more than twice in any 24-hour period commencing at 12:01 a.m.
2. PENALTY. Any person violating this section shall upon conviction forfeit not less than $50 and not more than $500 or, upon default of payment thereof, be imprisoned in the county jail or house of correction of Milwaukee county for a period not to exceed 20 days.
