This resolution authorizes an appropriation of $130,000 from the 1997 Common Council Contingent Fund to two special accounts within the Contingent Fund to fund the obligations of the City and the Fire and Police Commission under a tentative order submitted to the court in United States of America v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No. 74-C-480. ___________________________________________________________
BODY:
WHEREAS, The tentative Order in the United States of America v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No. 74-C-480, submitted for consideration by the Court, directs that the City make $40,000 available for attorney fees for certified class representatives and make $80,000 available for testing experts for representatives of certified classes and also requires notification of interested persons and groups.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Comptroller be hereby authorized to appropriate $130,000 from the 1997 Common Council Contingent Fund, (Account Number 09-910-8000) to two special accounts within the Contingent Fund; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That $120,000 shall be placed with a special account (Account 09-910-8XXX) within the Contingent Fund for the City Attorney to use for interested party legal fees and testing experts as required by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and $10,000 shall be placed with a special account (Account 09-910-8XXX) within the Contingent Fund for the Fire and Police Commission to be used for legal notifications required under the Court order.
