Title
Resolution approving a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States Coast Guard and the Milwaukee Fire Department Water Patrol Unit.
Analysis
This resolution approves a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States Coast Guard and the Milwaukee Fire Department Water Patrol Unit (Dive Team). The MOU will allow the Fire Department Dive Team to participate in training exercises with the United States Coast Guard and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. These training exercises will be conducted as an in-kind trade between the City and the Coast Guard and have no fiscal impact.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard both perform boating safety, water patrols and vessel operation programs on Lake Michigan; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Fire Department has requested assistance from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary in training its members in surface vessel operations and search and rescue techniques; and
Whereas, In Return, the United States Coast Guard and United States Coast Guard Auxiliary request Fire Department assistance in water patrols within Lake Michigan; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard wish to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding to provide these mutual services; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States Coast Guard and the Milwaukee Fire Department Water Patrol Unit, a copy attached to this file, is approved and the proper City officers are authorized and directed to execute the same on behalf of the City.
