Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into a contract with the CAiCE Software Corporation to develop pavement - design software for the rehabilitation of the City's street system.
Body
Whereas, The Department of Public Works has evaluated several software consultants that have packaged pavement design software; and
 
Whereas, The packaged software is primarily for large new subdivisions and country roads with no abutting buildings; and
 
Whereas, CAiCE Software Corporation will agree to develop new software for urban roads that require reconstruction and resurfacing; and
 
Whereas, CAiCE will furnish eight (8) software licenses, a four (4) day training course at the City, and one year of maintenance and upgrades for $62,800; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the CAiCE Software Corporation to develop a new design software program for the rehabilitation of urban streets; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the proper City officials are directed to transfer the budgeted $62,800 from the appropriate fund accounts to allow the contract to proceed.
