Analysis
This resolution appropriates $10,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund to help fund the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce’s 3,000 Black Business Challenge which seeks to challenge the Black community to start 3,000 new, Black-owned businesses each year for the next 4 years while challenging existing Black-owned businesses to engage in pro-growth strategies.

Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund is to be used to promote the City's economic development programs and attracting new industry to the City; and

Whereas, The mission of the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce is to catalyze the creation, expansion and retention of Black-owned businesses to create jobs and promote economic opportunities in the Black community; and


Whereas, The Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce’s 3,000 Black Business Challenge is a campaign to challenge the Black community to start 3,000 new, Black-owned businesses each year for the next 4 years while challenging existing Black-owned businesses to engage in pro-growth strategies; and

Whereas, The 3,000 Black Business Challenge seeks to increase the number of Black-owned businesses in Milwaukee, provide new job opportunities in the Black community and improve the economic vitality and health of the Black community, which in turn benefits the city as a whole; and

Whereas, The appropriation of up to $10,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund to the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce for its 3,000 Black Business Challenge will help create jobs in the city and promote economic opportunities for Milwaukee residents; now, therefore, be it
