Title

Substitute resolution reallocating MKE Community Excellence Fund funds from Girls’ Day at City Hall to Bronzeville Week.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the reallocation of the remaining funds for Girls’ Day at City Hall from the MKE Community Excellence Fund to Bronzeville Week.

Body

Whereas, The purpose of the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account is to provide resources to support community events that promote peace and violence prevention, with the intention that allocations from the SPA will be matched by contributions from local organizations; and

 

Whereas, Common Council File Number 241560, adopted on February 11, 2025 authorized the expenditure of up to $10,000 from the MKE Community Excellence Fund Special Purpose Account to support Girls’ Day at City Hall; and

 

Whereas, File Number 241560, also authorized the expenditure of up to $25,000 on Bronzeville Week; and

 

Whereas, The 15th annual Girls’ Day at City Hall was held on March 13, 2025; and

 

Whereas, $1,421.09 allocated for Girls’ Day at City Hall was matched but not spent; and

 

Whereas, Bronzeville Week is the City’s annual celebration of African-American culture, history, art, commerce and entertainment; and

 

; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the remaining matched funds totaling $1,421.09 in the MKE Community Excellence Fund are reallocated from Girls’ Day at City Hall to Bronzeville Week.
