Analysis
This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to participate in the American Automobile Association Road Improvement Demonstration Program. The program provides funds to conduct safety reviews at locations identified as having a high number of collisions through the City's ongoing Accident Identification and Surveillance Program. Once the reviews are conducted, the American Automobile Association will work with the City to identify and locate possible sources of funds to implement the proposed changes. Participation in the program is at no cost to the City.

Whereas, The American Automobile Association (AAA) Road Improvement Demonstration Program is a nationally recognized program that began in Detroit in 1996 and has grown to include almost 400 high crash intersections in Michigan; and

Whereas, The AAA Road Improvement Demonstration Program is an innovative Road improvement strategy through which public and private partners work together to develop and implement effective, low cost safety enhancements at high crash locations; and

Whereas, The proposed partnering approach will provide an opportunity to identify and implement safety enhancements that will benefit motorists in the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, AAA Wisconsin is interested in working with the City to identify specific locations and provide the necessary funds to conduct safety reviews; and
