Department of Justice Weed and Seed Grant Community Security Partnerships Grant (Northside) for $225,000, the Weed and Seed Expansion (Southside) for $225,000 and the United South for $225,000, and authorization of the Social Development Commission to exercise administrative and supervisory functions.
Analysis
This resolution authorized the Department of Administration's Community Block Grant Administration (CBGA) to apply, accept and fund all Weed and Seed Grants from the U. S. Department of Justice and authorizes the Social Development Commission to exercise administrative and supervisory functions with respect to the Weed and Seed programs funded by the United States Department of Justice.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is eligible for grant funds for the Weed and Seed Grant programs, under CFDA Number 16.595, from the United States Department of Justice, and

Whereas, The Common Council in CCFN 980248 has approved the administrative and supervisory function of the Social Development Commission for the Weed & Seed Programs; and

Whereas, The operation of these grant programs from October 1, 2001 through September 30, 2002 would cost $259,101 for the Weed and Seed Community Security Partnership Grant Program (Northside) and $266,966 for the Weed and Seed Expansion (Southside), and $268,659 for the Weed and Seed United South; and

Whereas, The Grantor Share for these grants would be provided as follows:

Weed and Seed Community Security Partnerships Grant (Northside) $225,000
Weed and Seed Expansion (Southside) $225,000
Weed and Seed United south $225,000

and

Whereas the City Share for these grants would be provided as follows:

Weed and Seed Community Security Partnerships Grant (Northside) $34,101
