Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Pubic Works to execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District concerning the capping of the City landfill located at the southwest corner of East Layton Avenue and South Pennsylvania Avenue.
Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns a landfill located at the southwest corner of East Layton Avenue and South Pennsylvania Avenue and this landfill must be capped before it can be properly closed; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District is currently constructing modifications to the Lincoln Creek and has excess fill material which would be appropriate to construct a cap at the Layton and Pennsylvania landfill; and

Whereas, It would be in the best interests of the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District to utilize the available excess fill material to construct the required cap; and

Whereas, Funding for the City of Milwaukee's portion of the estimated cost of construction of the cap is included in the 2001 Department of Public Works budget; and

Whereas, The Memorandum of Understanding attached to the file represents the duties and responsibilities of the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District concerning the construction of the cap; now, therefore, be it
