Analysis:
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to issue a Request for Proposals and award a contract for the analysis of energy efficient Heating, Ventilation, and Air Condition (HVAC) strategies for various Milwaukee Water Works facilities.
Body:
Whereas, Milwaukee Water Works owns and operates facilities that were built as early as the early 1920’s; and
Whereas, Some of the existing HVAC systems have been in operation well beyond their useful life; and
Whereas, There are numerous options for the replacement of this equipment and experts in this area may identify synergies between heating and cooling which could result in significant energy efficiencies; and
Whereas, It is impractical to develop precise bidding specification for the services; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue a Request for Proposals for professional services to develop options and make recommendations for energy-efficient Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems at various MWW facilities; and,be it
Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to award a Contract for Professional Services associated with the same; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the cost of the all the work be charged to the appropriate Water Works account.
