Analysis
This resolution expresses the City of Milwaukee's general support for the proposed redevelopment of the Northridge Shopping Center through construction of a new commercial complex to be known as Granville Station. The resolution further expresses the City's commitment to work with the project developer to resolve infrastructure improvement issues.
Body
Whereas, The Tucker Development Corporation, a developer, has acquired the former Northridge Shopping Center; and

Whereas, The developer plans to construct a new commercial complex on the site to be known as Granville Station; and

Whereas, The plans for the project will necessitate relocation of some segments of existing sewer and water lines that now run through the site; and

Whereas, The required infrastructure alterations are somewhat complicated and, as a result, how they can best be accomplished has not yet been determined; and

Whereas, One of the key anchor retailers intending to become part of Granville Station is scheduled to close on its purchase of a development parcel by the end of October, 2003; and

Whereas, The utility relocation issues will require subsequent Common Council actions and thus can not be fully resolved in time for the planned real estate closing; and

Whereas, The Granville Station project will benefit its immediate neighborhood as well as the city as a whole; and

Whereas, It is the intent of the Common Council to assure the developer and the anchor retailer of the City's general support for the Granville Station project; now, therefore, be it
