Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Plain Talk Initiative - United Way Grant from the United Way.

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Plain Talk Initiative - United Way Grant from the United Way in the amount of $50,000. The purpose of the project is to provide a community-based initiative aimed at helping parent develop the skills and tools they need to communicate effectively with their children about abstinence, healthy relationships, and sexuality.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the United Way to provide this community-based initiative; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 10/01/06 to 12/28/07 would cost $50,000 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the United Way is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amount for the project titled Plain Talk Initiative - United Way Grant:
