The Common Council restored funding for a number of positions in various city departments, as well as created several new positions, in the 1999 Adopted City Budget. This resolution directs all city departments, and requests the Police Department, to fill those positions effectuated by Council amendment to the 1999 City Budget.
BODY:
Whereas, Each year, the Finance and Personnel Committee reviews the Mayor's Proposed Executive Budget for the City of Milwaukee, and submits its recommended amendments to the full Common Council for consideration; and

Whereas, On November 13, 1998, the Common Council adopted a 1999 City Budget which restored funding for a number of fulltime equivalent (FTE) positions in various city departments which were proposed to be eliminated in the Mayor's Proposed Budget, and created certain other new positions; and

Whereas, The Common Council restored funding for various positions with the intent of maintaining current levels of service, and created certain new positions to add value and enhance the quality of life; and

Whereas, It is in the best interest of the City of Milwaukee and its citizens to ensure the filling of each of those positions effectuated by the Common Council through the amendment process; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that all city departments are directed to fill those positions for which funding was restored by the Common Council in the 1999 Adopted City Budget, and to fill those new positions created by the Common Council in the 1999 Adopted City Budget, including but not limited to the following positions:

1. One new position of Office Assistant II in the City Attorney's Office to provide clerical support for the Public Nuisance Abatement Program....
