This resolution applies a refund for interest and penalty charges paid by John Moore related to the return of real estate located at 4216 N. Sherman Blvd to the 2007 taxes for said property.
Body
Whereas, John Moore testified before the Judiciary and Legislation Committee on October 15, 2007 that he had attempted to ascertain if taxes were due on his property at 4216 N. Sherman Blvd; and
Whereas, City staff agreed that there was confusion in regards to how 4214 and 4216 N. Sherman Blvd. were recorded, both properties which are owned by Mr. Moore; and
Whereas, The Judiciary and Legislation Committee agreed to refund to Mr. Moore the administrative cost incurred with requesting a vacation of the in-rem judgment; and
Whereas, Mr. Moore had attempted to pay the taxes due on 4216 N. Sherman Blvd. on a number of dates and he should not have to pay any interest and penalties applied to the property for his failure to pay the taxes; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the interest and penalty amounts applied to 4216 N. Sherman Blvd. shall be refunded to Mr. Moore by application of said refund to his 2007 property tax bill.
