This resolution directs the Commissioners of the Department of Public Works and the Department of City Development to develop a plan for minimizing disruptions to local businesses during street construction, and to present this plan to the Common Council by March 31, 2020.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council approved the inclusion of a footnote in the 2020 Adopted City Budget, directing the Commissioners of the Department of Public Works and the Department of City Development to develop a plan for minimizing disruptions to local businesses during street construction; and
Whereas, Street construction may jeopardize the continued viability of businesses along and adjacent to a street construction project by obstructing or totally blocking access to the businesses by customers and suppliers; and
Whereas, Measures need to be implemented to manage street construction to minimize disruptions to normal flow of commerce and the continuous operations businesses along and adjacent to the street construction; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioners of the Department of Public Works and the Department of City Development are directed to develop a plan for minimizing disruptions to local businesses during street construction; and, be it
Further Resolved, This plan shall be presented to the Common Council by March 31, 2020.
