Analysis

This resolution directs the Intergovernmental Relations Division- Department of Administration to seek introduction and passage of state legislation that permits municipalities to allow parking in certain T-intersections located entirely in residential areas where parking would not constitute a hazard.

Body                     

Whereas, The street parking that numerous Milwaukee residents require for their vehicles is limited; and

 

Whereas, Section 346.52, Wis. Stats., prohibits parking within intersections, including T-intersections; and

 

Whereas, Permitting residents to park in certain T-intersections where parking would not constitute a hazard would increase parking options for residents without endangering motorists; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Intergovernmental Relations Division- Department of Administration is authorized and directed to seek introduction and passage of state legislation that permits municipalities to allow parking in certain T-intersections located entirely in residential areas where parking would not constitute a hazard; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That this legislation shall empower municipalities to individually assess residential T-intersections in order to determine whether or not parked cars in said intersections would endanger motorists.
