This resolution authorizes the continuation of a Local Parking Program Grant and the carryover of appropriations to next years' accounts.


BODY:
Whereas, Common Council Resolution 931660, adopted March 3, 1994, authorized application for, acceptance and funding for the Local Parking Program Grant through the funding from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; and

Whereas, The project has an unencumbered balance at the end of 1997 of $1,282.75 which is available through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; and

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 661893-e VII(A) states that "carrying over the unexpended funds shall be limited to three years from the year in which the funds were appropriated. A grant project exceeding this period shall be refunded through a separate resolution"; and

Whereas, This limitation applies to the continuation of the Develop Local Parking Program Grant; and

Whereas, Continued involvement in this program will enhance the City of Milwaukee by allowing the Infrastructure Services Division formulate policies to control parking in the central business district by encouraging the use of other transportation modes and improving auto traffic flow; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that continuation of the grant for the Develop Local Parking Management Program, to be administered by the Infrastructure Services Division, is hereby authorized; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the proper City officials and/or the herein named department head are authorized to continue the grant without further Common Council approval; and, be it
