This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a GREAT Grant project extension from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The extension adds $114,442 to the authorized funding and extends the ending date to 1/15/2000. The initial grant amount was $459,686 with a city share of $134,686 and a grantor share of $325,000. The grant was given original approval in Common Council Resolution 981563. The purpose of the project is to reduce gang activity and contribute to achieving the Department's citizen satisfaction objectives. This is a continuing grant. No position authority is contingent on the grant.
BODY:
Whereas, Under the terms of Cooperative Agreement #95699040, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms for a GREAT grant; and
Whereas, The extension of this grant project through January 15, 2000 would cost an additional $114,442 of which $33,192 (30%) would be provided by the city and $81,250 (70%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that extension by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is authorized and the Police Department shall accept and expend the additional funding; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 1999 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project fund titled:
