Analysis
This resolution authorizes payment relative to the settlement of the lawsuit Letitia Holloway v. City of Milwaukee et al., Case No. 24-CV-134-BHL, for the total amount of $50,000.

Body

Whereas, Plaintiff Letitia Holloway filed a lawsuit in the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Case No. 24-CV-134, against City of Milwaukee, Jonathan Mejias-Rivera, and Lisa Saffold, seeking damages for alleged violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, and 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981 and 1983; and

Whereas, Plaintiff has agreed to settle the claims raised in the above-referenced lawsuit for the total amount of $50,000, inclusive of all costs and fees, including attorney’s fees; and

Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and deems it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Attorney is authorized settle the case entitled Letitia Holloway v. City of Milwaukee et al. for the amount of $50,000; and be it

Further Resolved, That an amount not to exceed $50,000 is appropriated from the Special Purpose Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300; and, be it

Further Resolved, That those funds are to be utilized to issue the following checks in compliance with the settlement agreement:
(1) $37,500 payable to Letitia Holloway, to be mailed to 301 N. Broadway, Suite 400, Milwaukee, WI 53202, attention Marisa Matthiesen
(2) $6,250 payable to Aldrete Law, to be mailed to 301 N. Broadway, Suite 400, Milwaukee, WI 53202, attention Marisa Matthiesen
(3) $6,250 payable to Hansen Reynolds, LLC, to be mailed to 301 N. Broadway, Suite 400, Milwaukee, WI 53202, attention Marisa Matthiesen
