Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Department of Employee Relations (DER) to extend the current contract with MetLife for an additional year to continue administering voluntary benefits for City employees.

 

Body

Whereas, Partnering with MetLife allows the City to utilize a single vendor for the administration of voluntary benefits; and

 

Whereas, Voluntary benefits are an important way to supplement core benefit offerings, address additional employee needs, and allow employees to tailor a benefit package to their specific circumstances; and

 

Whereas, The current contract term with MetLife ends December 31, 2026, and the City previously entered into a three-year agreement with MetLife for the administration of the City’s voluntary benefits program, including Short-Term Disability (STD), Accident, and Critical Illness Insurance; and

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the DER is authorized to extend the current contract with MetLife to provide voluntary benefits for an additional one year, ending December 31, 2027
