Title
Substitute resolution reversing the Historic Preservation Commission's action denying a certificate of appropriateness for installation of balconies on the facades facing Webster Street and Downer Avenue at 2551 North Downer Avenue.
Analysis
This resolution reverses the June 25, 2003, decision of the Historic Preservation Commission denying a certificate of appropriateness for a request to install balconies on the facades facing Webster Street and Downer Avenue at 2551 North Downer Avenue.  This resolution would, in effect, permit such balcony installations to proceed.
Body
Whereas, The owner of the property at 2551 North Downer Avenue has requested a certificate of appropriateness for the purpose of installing balconies on three sides of the building the facades facing the alley, Webster Street and Downer Avenue; and
 
Whereas, The Historic Preservation Commission, on June 25, 2003, issued a certificate of appropriateness restricting installation of balconies to the alley façade only and rejecting the portion of the request relating to installation of balconies on the facades facing Webster Street and Downer Avenue; and
 
Whereas, The owner of the property, pursuant to s.308-81-9-f of the Milwaukee Code, is entitled to appeal this decision of the Historic Preservation Commission to the Common Council, and has filed a request for a hearing of this appeal in a timely manner; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the June 25, 2003, decision of the Historic Preservation denying a certificate of appropriateness for installation of balconies on the facades facing Webster Street and Downer Avenue at 2551 North Downer Avenue is reversed.
