This ordinance permits wooden fences up to 6 feet in height along the lot lines of a side residential yard provided that the fence area higher than 4 feet above the grade is 50% open construction and unobstructed to permit light, ventilation and the free movement of air.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 239-2-6-b-4 of the code is amended to read:
239-2. Fences.
6. ON RESIDENTIAL PREMISES.
b-4. Fences of wire chain-link, wrought iron or similar open construction to a maximum of 6 feet in height may be located along lot lines of a side yard provided the space between the wires which are more than 4 feet above grade are unobstructed so as to permit the free movement of air. >>Wooden fences may be constructed to a maximum of 6 feet in height along lot lines of a side yard provided the fence area which is more than 4 feet above the grade is 50% open construction and unobstructed so as to permit light, ventilation, 50% visibility and the free movement of air.<<
