- ANALYSIS -
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of the Department of Public Works to enter into agreements and/or issue permits for work in the public alley in the block bounded by West Michigan Street, West Wisconsin Avenue, North 2nd Street and North 4th Street. The proposed work in the public alley would be in conjunction with construction work on the Marriott Courtyard Hotel. The work would occur in advance and in anticipation of formal vacation of the alley. ________________________________________________________
BODY:
Whereas, An application has been submitted to vacate the alley in the block bounded by West Michigan Street, West Wisconsin Avenue, North 2nd Street and North 4th Street; and
Whereas, Vacation of the alley will facilitate the construction of a Marriott Courtyard Hotel which will provide additional hotel rooms to support the new Midwest Express Center; and
Whereas, The vacation petition has already been signed and submitted; and
Whereas, The alley vacation process is likely to take two or three months to complete; and
Whereas, A delay of that length could jeopardize the completion schedule for the project; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to enter into agreements and/or issue permits which will allow the applicant to perform work in the alley area proposed for vacation in advance of formal vacation.
