Body
Whereas, An existing mid-block crossing at 6001 North 91st Street experiences a high volume of pedestrians crossing to and from Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin; and

Whereas, Rectangular rapid flashing beacons have been demonstrated to increase safety, particularly on median divided roadways, by increasing number of vehicles yielding to pedestrians crossing using a high intensity alternating flash pattern when activated; and

Whereas, The installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the crossing will enhance safety for pedestrians crossing; and

Whereas, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin has agreed to provide materials for the installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the crossing at an estimated cost of $8,500; and

Whereas, The remaining costs of the installation of rectangular rapid flashing beacons is estimated to be $8,500 to install underground conduit and cabling, is included in the Department of Public Works traffic signal capital fund approved under Common Council File Number 151122; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized to install a rectangular rapid flashing beacon at 6001 North 91 Street.
