Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant. (Police Department)

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the amount of $209,339 with a grantor share of $95,290 and a city share of $114,049. The purpose of the project is to reduce the volume of controlled substances in the Milwaukee Area.

Body:
Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.579, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance through the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance and the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office for a Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement grant; and

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.579, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for overtime grant funds in the amount of $18,000 coming from the Milwaukee Metropolitan Drug Enforcement Asset Forfeiture Account; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from January 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 would cost $209,339 of which, $95,290 (46%) would be provided by the grantor and $114,049 (54%) would be provided by the city; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of this grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2005 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled: "Milwaukee...
