Northcott Neighborhood House, Inc. and a coalition of community groups, churches and other institutions are convening a statewide Spirit of Men Conference to be held in Milwaukee, July 30 -August 1, 1997, to address the economic, social and spiritual challenges confronting African American males today. This resolution directs all city departments to provide technical assistance and services as necessary to Northcott Neighborhood House and the Spirit of Men Conference to ensure the success of the conference.


BODY:
Whereas, Northcott Neighborhood House, Inc. is a community based organization sponsored by the United Methodist Church, providing services through its many programs to Milwaukee central city residents for more than 36 years; and

Whereas, Northcott Neighborhood House, Inc. has been strengthening families, children and the entire community through its many programs and services, including the Ms. Juneteenth Day Pageant, the Juneteenth Celebration, the Freedom Ball, the Headstart Program, basketball leagues, summer day camps, food giveaways and the Clothing Bank; and

Whereas, Through its housing program, youth entrepreneur program and sponsorship of Milwaukee Black Expo, Northcott Neighborhood House has addressed the importance of economic stablity in creating stable, strong and safe neighborhoods for not only central city residents but for all residents of the City of Milwaukee; and
