Title

Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Health to enter into program partnership agreements relating to the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program.

 

Analysis

Resolution provides authority for the Commissioner of Health to negotiate and execute agreements with partners for the State-funded Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) program. WIC provides nutrition education and support for eligible families, including support to purchase food and development assessments for participating children.

 

Body

WHEREAS, The City of Milwaukee, through its Health Department, operates one of the largest Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) programs in the State of Wisconsin; and,

 

WHEREAS, The WIC program is funded fully by the State of Wisconsin through its Department of Health Services; and,

 

WHEREAS, Participating providers are required by the State of Wisconsin to enter into and keep current partnership agreements that allow WIC providers and partners to fully support positive outcomes for WIC clients; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Health and appropriate City officials are authorized to negotiate and execute partner agreements for the WIC program, in a form substantially similar to that in Exhibit A.
