Analysis
Under s. 36-05-1-a, in the event a policeman who has elected an option dies between the date of his or her application for service retirement for service retirement and the effective date of his or her service retirement, the policeman shall be treated as though he or she died immediately after his or her retirement became effective. This makes the survivor eligible for a pension. This charter ordinance would extend the same benefit to all other members.
