This resolution will authorize expenditures of up to $125,000 for median improvements in the North Water Street median between East Highland Avenue and East Juneau Avenue and authorize the purchase of decorative trash receptacles.
BODY:
Whereas, The North Water Street Tavern and Restaurant Association ("Association") members have helped lead the effort of making Downtown Milwaukee an entertainment destination; and
Whereas, The Association desires to replace the grass area in a portion of the median in North Water Street with a decorative hard surface; and
Whereas, The Association will take responsibility for the maintenance and repair of the decorative trash receptacles if the City purchases them; and
Whereas, These expenditures will enhance the pedestrian environment of this entertainment district; and
Whereas, The Riverfront and Other Downtown Planning and Improvement Fund was specifically established to fund these types of activities; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the replacement of the grass with a decorative hard surface in the North Water Street median between East Highland Avenue and East Juneau Avenue along with the purchase of decorative trash receptacles is approved; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer $125,000 from the Riverfront and Other Downtown Planning and Improvement Fund, Account No. 31-618-0001, to the North Water Street Median and Streetscape Project Subaccount No. 31-618-2001; and, be it
Further Resolved, That all City departments and officials are authorized to take whatever action is necessary to implement this project.
