Body
Whereas, The Kohn Law Firm entered a judgment on behalf of the City of Milwaukee and against United Community Center on January 5, 2005, in the amount of $85,289.40, Milwaukee Circuit Case No. 04-CV-010416, for real estate taxes at 920 South 9th Street, tax key no. 432-0713111; and
Whereas, The Kohn Law Firm has determined that United Community Center, Inc. was tax exempt commencing in 2003, however, it did not file timely to obtain the tax exemption for 2002, for the Bruce Guadalupe Community School located at the premises; and
Whereas, United Community Center, Inc. is able to pay to principal tax balance of $65,396.19 in six monthly installments, commencing in February, 2005; and
Whereas, The settlement of the judgment is in the best interests of the City, now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Judgment against United Community Center, Inc. be settled for $65,396.19 and that $19,893.21 of said Judgment, interest and penalties, be and is hereby cancelled.
