Title
Motion approving amendment of the charter school contract between the City and the Downtown Montessori Academy, Inc.
 
Body
Whereas, In Common Council File Number 981357, adopted on January 19, 1999, the Common Council authorized the Downtown Montessori Academy, Inc., to operate as a Common Council charter school and approved a 5-year contract between the City and Downtown Montessori Academy, Inc.; and
 
Whereas, In Common Council File Number 020027, adopted on May 14, 2002, the Common Council amended the charter school contract to add a fourth grade to the grade levels served by the charter school; and
 
Whereas, In Common Council File Number 021366, adopted on January 22, 2003, the Common Council renewed the charter for the Downtown Montessori, beginning in the 2003-2004 school year and ending in the 2007-2008 school year; and
 
Whereas, The Downtown Montessori Academy, Inc., has requested that its contract with the City be amended to add one grade each year until it reaches the eighth grade and be allowed to provide its educational program exclusively from its Kenwood campus; and
 
Whereas, The Charter School Review Committee has voted to recommend the contract between the City and the Downtown Montessori Academy, Inc., be amended to add one grade each year until it reaches the eighth grade exclusively at its Kenwood location; now, therefore
 
It is moved, That the Common Council approves the proposed amendment to the charter school contract submitted by the City Attorney and authorizes and directs the appropriate City officials to execute the amendment substantially in the form attached to this file, with such revisions as may be required by the City Attorney.
