Resolution appropriating $8,599.69 from the Common Council Contingent Fund for the purpose of paying the 1992 Annual Payment to DNR. (Comptroller)
ANALYSIS:
The State currently requires the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to make annual payments to municipalities for state land located within those municipalities. Milwaukee currently receives payment for the Havenwoods Forest Preserve and by resolution returns this money to the DNR to cover expenses related to the property. In 1992, payment was received by the City of Milwaukee, but was not remitted to the DNR. This resolution appropriates $8,599.69 from the Common Council Contingent Fund to the Annual Payment to DNR Special Purpose Account to pay the amount owed to the DNR.
BODY:
Whereas, State statute requires the DNR to make annual payments to municipalities for state owned land for recreation and resource management; and
Whereas, Milwaukee currently receives aid for the Havenwoods Forest Preserve; and
Whereas, Common Council resolution 78-1153-a, adopted November 11, 1978, dedicates these payments to the DNR for operations and maintenance of the Havenwoods property; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee received payment in 1992 of $8,599.69 from the DNR for the Havenwoods property, but did not remit this amount to the DNR as required by resolution 78-1153-a; and
Whereas, The DNR has requested payment in the amount of $8,599.69 for 1992; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the sum of $8,599.69 is hereby transferred from the Common Council Contingent Fund, Account No. 0001 9990 C001 1999 006300 to Annual Payment to DNR, Special Purpose Account No. 0001 2110 S105 006300 for the purpose of paying the 1992 payment to the DNR.
