Analysis

Current code provisions require that, upon order of the commissioner of the department of neighborhood services, all doors and windows on ground level and those doors and windows accessible to grade by stairs or permanently fixed ladders or within 10 feet of grade of a vacant structure be boarded.  This ordinance gives the commissioner the power to order that additional doors, windows or other means of ingress or egress be boarded.

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

 

Part 1.  Section 275-32-7-a-2 of the code is amended to read:

 

275-32. Exterior Structure.

7. VACANT STRUCTURES.

a-2. Boarding of a structure shall be required for all doors and windows on ground level>>,<< [[and]] those doors and windows accessible to grade by stairs or permanently fixed ladders or within 10 feet of grade >>and any other doors, windows or other means of ingress or egress as directed by the commissioner<<.
