Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of City Development (Milwaukee Arts Board) to accept up to a total of $100,000 in private contributions for the purchase of art, making awards and other related art activities approved by the Milwaukee Arts Board.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted File No. 931797 on March 29, 1994, which directed the City Comptroller to establish a special account within the Department of City Development's budget for the acceptance of private contributions and authorized expenditure of the contributions for the purchase of art, making awards and other related art activities approved by the Milwaukee Arts Board; and

Whereas, Said special account was established to accept up to $5,000 in private contributions, including the amount of the reimbursement allowances of any members of the Milwaukee Arts Board who wish to donate their allowances for the purpose and most recently under File No. 991267 adopted December 17, 1999, by which the Milwaukee Arts Board became a participating United Performing Arts Fund/Visions recipient; and

Whereas, Since the $5,000 contribution limit was inadequate for anticipated private contributions, the limit was raised to $15,000 via File No. 951526 adopted on February 13, 1996; and

Whereas, The $15,000 contribution limit is no longer adequate and should be increased to a total of up to $100,000; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that File No. 951526 is amended to increase the special account private contribution limit to a total of up to $100,000; and, be it
