Resolution relating to acceptance and funding of a 2025 Wisconsin State Patrol Division Spring Drug Recognition Expert Field Certification Training grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a 2025 Spring Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Field Certification training grant from the Wisconsin State Patrol Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $26,136.00 with a city in-kind share of $0 and a grantor share of $26,136.00. The purpose of the grant is to host and assist with statewide DRE field certification training at the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) Training Academy. The grant will fund overtime for MPD police officers to accompany DRE training candidates in the field locating drug-impaired individuals to consent to voluntary drug influence evaluations.

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #20.616, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin State Patrol Bureau of Transportation Safety to host the 2025 Spring DRE field certification training; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 04/16/2025 to 5/2/2025 would cost $26,136.00 of which, $0 would be provided by the city and $26,136.00 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2025 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled 2025 Spring DRE Grant:
